Chair of Epistemology and Cognitive Sciences

The trademark of scientific research developed in the Chair of Epistemology are concepts initiated by Leszek Nowak, mainly: idealizational theory of science, non- Marxian historical materialism and anthropological foundations of the social theory. The new research topics are cognitive sciences. Krzysztof Brzechczyn is interested in application of idealization in historical research and employs models from non-Marxian historical materialism for interpretations of historical and present socio-political processes. Piotr Przybysz reconstructs some key concepts in political philosophy (Rawls) by the use of notion apparatus of idealizational theory of science. He also employs some models taken from the cognitive sciences in reconstruction of mechanisms of the social cognition. Maciej Błaszak is interested in cognitive dimensions of the rationality of man and decision processes.
